"What are we going to do tonight Robo-Tron 9000?"
"Tonight; we are going to take over the world!"
This is the world I hope to live in. Now, most of you might think "But, the robots would try to kill us all!" First of all, no. Second, no engineer would create a system that would ultimately control EVERYTHING with one super smart computer given vague instructions that it could interpret however it wants. A good example is 2001: A Space Odyssey in which spacemen (and spacewomen) go into space with their computer/human crew member HAL who turns evil and, because he is in control of everything on the ship, he tries to kill the spacemen to complete the mission. In later books in the series all of the space craft are controlled by multiple, completely separate systems; and basic redundancy. In this future controlled by robots there would be many different robots all designed to do one task, or few small tasks (like a maid-bot, or robo-chief) that are so localized, the robot would not have the power or the physical ability to try to take over the world. And, of course, most robots would not be humanoid, except for some human interaction bots (more on those later). But with robots in charge we would not have to worry about jobs (robots would do them) we would not have to worry about money or social-classes. You could do anything you wanted. And with simple redundancy, there would be no corruption! There could be a button on the back of every robot that you have to push every day and if you did not push it, the robot would implode. That way if the robot somehow turned evil, you just won't push the button, and problem solved!
I could write a whole essay (even a book) on this so instead of one REALLY long blog I'm going to put it into a bunch of shorter blogs. So that's all for now on my robot takeover plan! See you later!
